Recently I found a goody: the ATA’s section about the meaning of each tarot card. I don’t have any experiences with the ATA yet, but I was impressed by the detailed description of every card!
What impressed me the most is, that it’s not based on some kind of book, but the personal experienced of the author James Rioux.
“This section of the ATA website contains my personal interpretations of the 78 Tarot cards. This information is not taken from any books or Internet documents, but based on my personal experience. The meanings I have recorded in these pages emerged through readings, meditation, common sense, or a combination of these.
Note that these are my personal opinions, and that every reader will have different views of the same cards. What I say about the cards is not fact written in stone, or gospel to be obeyed without question. I offer them on this site so students of the Tarot can have something more substantial to rely upon than “white booklet” meanings, until they discover their own personal interpretations through work and experience.”
I´d love to hear what you think about it! Does it help you to understand the meaning of each tarot card?
Yours,
Jacob
Hello Jacob! I was out Googling the ATA to see where we were and stumbled across your blog. I’m so glad you found the ATA useful! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Dear Jacob:
I am sorry to bother you. I recently became very interested in learning about Tarot and I have had no knowledge about Tarot at all. After I had read all those positive reviews about the Quest Tarot, I decided to obtain one. It seems to be easy and fun, but I have a few silly questions. I don’t know whom I can ask so I found your site during my search. I hope you don’t mind to answer those silly questions.
First of all, the accompanied book doesn’t talk about exact method of mixing and shuffling the cards. I saw some display of the cards in the book and explanation of the meaning of reversed cards. My question is when I first take out my brand new set of cards they all in order (from the factory), so when I begin the procedure should I place all the cards flat all the table and swirl and mix them, then pile them up in a pile and shuffle them. In this way I will get all the cards mixed up altogether both in normal orientation and reversed orientatiion. When I lay those cards down I will have cards in both normal and reversed position. Is this the correct way to do?
Second scenario is that after I finished reading the cards I just pick all the cards up any way any direction and pile them up. In this way the cards won’t be in any specific order and will be in both normal and reversed orientations. Then I put the deck back in the box storage, etc. Now I am ready to use it again to do the next or new reading, do I start to shuffle from the old mixed or should I rearrange the cards into a specific order then start mixing them again so it will give a new reading from a fresh start? Or another word, I am practicing doing a reading for myself then my wife, my mom, my dad, and so on after I mix those cards either ways, spread them out and do a reading for myself. When I am done, how should I process to the next seeker?
I hope you will educate me. Thank you very much for offering you space for others to communicate with you. Chai
